Paint: Baerefoot
Fluffy trees and shiny water
As with all diorama projects it started with a fast wet blending session. Some browns and slight greens, and a little dry brush afterwards.
Foamy moss or mossy foam
Next up I pushed the greens around the footprint. They shall be water puddles and when there is water, the surrounding is usually green. Green foam mixed with glue was used to create a mossy look.
When it dried, slight green washes in the surrounding helped to make it look integrated and not just like green bubbles glued on brown ground. Together with some Tufts it created a natural look.
Now, the water has puzzled me for quite some time. Just paint it? Use resin? Just the water effect?
I first decided for the latter one - a blue color covered with water effect. It doesn't look really like a puddle - more like the deep blue sea. I put that on the refinement list.
Fluff for the tree
The trees had to be completed and as you saw in the previous pictures I did a few trials in the past.
The most convenient result were based on heki floor mats. It's foam flock attached to a mesh. If you apply that in Layers to individual branches, it creates great tree leaves.
Thin dark paint washes ( use flow improver so that it also runs in the recesses ) and afterwards some layers of thicker paint for highlights applied like drybrushing creates the feeling of depth.
Water part two
Beside the fisher everything looked fine, so back to the water. A resin pur doesn't make mus sense because the effect works best whe having the water on the side so that you can really look into it. So I the idea was to improve it by painting reflections: The Sky, the sun and the sourroundings. When you look closely, you'll see the reeds, frog, stone and the snake reflecting a bit in the water. Later on I pushed some more yellow in it as reflectin from the sun - check the final picturesfor that.
The happy fisher
The last piece was the fisher itself. I had the idea of a straw hat to underline the light happy feeling but had a hard time to decide on the colours of the clothes.
I tried red, blue and brown but all was too strong and made him not really fitting too the scene. FInally he got a blueish green - a colder green than the moss and tree for only a slight contrast, but then the full red power on the fish as a focal point!
Finished
For final touches some highlights were added here and there, especially the water received some more reflection - even the little snake. And then called it a day.
If you are interesetd how that thing was build and haven't checked that out, see here.
